When you go from a size 26/2x to size12/L and/or size M like I did you'll get your butt in gear and keep on pushing. My early days working out were pretty rough. Aches, embarrassment and shortness of breath hindered me from even trying to accomplish anything on most days. Not being able to perform some of the simplest activities really can give your self-esteem a work over. But the point is you're trying, right? And it's not that the exercises got easier... I just think I got BETTER at them. It took me almost 9 years to lose 111 lbs. I'd very much like to make that number 140(ish) before we move into 2013. If I can do it, as cliche as it sounds...ANYONE can.
*update 3/2013 : I haven't gotten to the 140lb loss, but I'm still pushing!
In all seriousness, you need a fitness routine in order to reach your weight loss goals AND look your best. I saw a post recently that stated, exercise is the poor man's plastic surgery. I agree wholeheartedly. When you become stronger increase your weight/reps. The more agile you are, increase your speed. You will only cheat yourself by staying in your comfort zone. I know this all too well. No matter where your starting point is...Get up, Get moving and don't give up. Your body will thank you later.
New to working out, can't run or do any high impact activities. I SWEAR by Leslie Sansone's in home walking routines. Google "Walk Away the Pounds". I know you're probably giving me the <side eye> right now, but these work outs, work.
I had her workouts when VHS tapes were still sold on TV. LOL
Also try Collage Video this site basically does the foot work for you by allowing a certified trainer and 'regular person' review the videos on their site. You also get to watch a snippet of the videos rather than just having to rely on the text on the back of the box.
If you're in the Raleigh, NC area you've got to get on board with Physiques by Zeek
Congrats! You look amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I'm loving the changes that I've made. I'm also looking forward to making more.
DeleteYou look great, but how do you stay motivated to stay at it this is my biggest downfall I start off good then slip back to my old ways
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest, it is very hard to stay motivated. The most important thing is not giving up. If you have a bad day or even a bad week, you should absolutely forbid yourself form going back to your old ways. Celebrate when you reach milestones. Find a good workout partner or group. Having a support system means a lot when you are struggling.
Deletei agree with Katrina i want to lose the weight but its hard to stay in the groove!! any suggestions?? because i turn 25 this year and i want to make a change.
ReplyDeleteHi Naketra, as I told Katrina it's great to have a good support system. If you don't have one, then you owe it to yourself to make those changes. I was always a little thicker or heavier than my friends, so they didn't necessarily understand my struggle. My trainer always says, 'if you want it - go and get it. it's not gonna come to you'. And that's real. You're not going to make any progress by giving up. If you need to regroup every now and then. That's fine. But never, ever give up. You will surely regret it later.
DeleteYou do look awesome. I took took off close to 100lbs within the past two years. I went from a size 22 to a 12 trying to aim for a 10 loose, 8 snug by the summer. Not just based on size but I probably will reach my goal at those sizes. Its very hard to accomplish but once you start seeing results it motivates you so much. Please keep writing. I wanted to do a blog but I was so in tuned to working out and getting my life in order, I didn't have time to write. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteOoops, thought I replied directly to your post....
Deletehanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed my blog. I love sharing my story. I think being transparent and real is helpful to so many people that are struggling. I'm not a know it all or 'professional', but I have walked in the shoes of an obese woman so I think I can tell people a thing or too. LOL Congrats on your weight loss and keep pushing. Let me know your results when Summer rolls around.
